About Yours Truly
messy. chaotic. raw.
this is how i live my life.
a lot of people do not understand my life but how can i expect that when even i have yet to discover the ineffable mysteries of this fragile impermanence we live.
growing up i knew my path was not one many would walk upon.
i was raised in a small town on the outskirts of Denver, CO.
after a few traumatic events my mom decided that Colorado was not the place for us anymore. we packed our things an hit the road. our destination? the frigid state of Minnesota. when i was 17 i left home to attend college. here is where i decided to pursue aquatic biology and various other subjects through out the years. my severe indecisiveness left me feeling drained. i soon realized that a concrete constructed environment was not one in which my spirit would bloom. i was taught that the path to success and fulfillment meant chasing one thing; money. but what is that worth if it's at the expense of your own happiness? as a young child i saw this piece of paper tear loved ones apart. i knew there must be a better way. when i decided to drop out of college and quit my bank job to pursue a more fulfilling life (which consisted of living out of a tent on a tiny island) my parents did not understand. they could not see what i saw. the way i viewed the world was seen as "un-normal" and "unrealistic." in the midst of a chaotic upbringing a spark was lit inside a young child. one that had been suppressed for so long. when that child learned to ignite her flames within, the mask of illusion disintegrated from her very flesh. she was now able to see the world from her own eyes. eyes that ached for a better world. an appetite that hungered for adventure. a heart that stretched to the depths of the sea. i met this little girl once. and when i did my soul began to shake. i collapsed into her arms when mine could carry me no longer. i gazed into her innocent eyes and found that it was my own reflection staring back. i will never forget what she told me that day. she brought her lips to my ear, chills traced their way along the tip of my spine. "go," she whispered, "be free."
